All 1st tier food handlers and staff who have not been formally trained in food hygiene.
To provide food handlers with the fundamentals of good food hygiene practice and to equip them with the practical skills necessary to work safely with food.
The 1 day training course includes lectures enhanced by video and written materials. Delegates are encouraged to actively participate in discussions and group activities.
Candidates are assessed by an examination paper consisting of 30 multiple choice questions to be completed in 1 hour under examination conditions. Candidates who achieve 20 or more correct answers will pass the examination and receive a certificate from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
The next qualification after this Food Safety Awareness Course is the CIEH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering Course.
